My first week abroad in Italy has been interesting to say the least. All of us in the USAC program had 3 days of orientation at the host university Universita de Tuscia. Our program director Francesca and her assistant Louisa taught us many things during orientation. During orientation I got my schedule for my classes put together. My language class is 3 or 4 times a week usually at 9am and it goes until 11:30. I plan to sit in on a class this week to see if I would want to add it to my course load. The jet lag has been a learning experience as we have all been trying to figure out what works when it comes to jet lag, and what makes it worse. I had to adjust to a different type of climate in Italy. Right now in Italy it is very dry and very hot with weather temps usually around 85-90 degrees on any given day. With warmer weather I made sure to always fill my water bottle with cold water. I also learned from my host family that Italy was taking measures to make sure to conserve water as the region has been experiencing drought like conditions. I have been walking a ton as the area of Viterbo is a large walled city that spans almost 7 or 8 miles long.
