Sant Angelo Fairy Tale Town

Sant' Angelo is a tiny town just off the edge of Lazio Italy. It's about 45 minutes from Viterbo. I visited as part of a required field trip. It's a town where the buildings have big fairytale murals all up and down the sides of each of the buildings. Turns out the painters of the murals pay people to let them paint the murals on the houses and town buildings. At first we arrived in upper part of the town that was built on top of a hill. There were no murals in sight yet so I started to feel a bit disappointed, and thought this is going to be a long 3 hours! I was wrong to think that as the best was yet to come. We rounded a sharp curving corner and there were American fairytale murals as far as the eye could see. it was like a childhood fantasy town. We started walking and taking photos when we stumbled upon this elderly women. She became our unexpected tour guide. She took us to lots of murals that were tucked back that not many people knew about including a Christmas themed Saint Nicholas mural! She was a sweet old lady who gave off a grandmotherly vibe. She treated us as if we patrons of the town not tourists so we felt very welcomed there! By the all of us USAC students had a fantastic time touring around winding roads of this beautiful fantasy fairytale town. Also the hill going back up is very steep so if you visit bring good walking shoes!
