Typical day in Italy

A typical day as a USAC student for me starts around 9:30am-10am. I like to sleep in as my morning class was done and had the final on October 10th. I will typically go to the school cafe, or one of the cafe's inside the walled area of Viterbo. An Italian breakfast is usually a bowl of cereal, or it could be a type of pastry known as a cornetto. Cornetto's are sweet rolls usually made with filling in the middle or it could be plain with no filling. After breakfast I will usually get started with any homework that I have to hand in later in the week. I get my homework done early that way I'm not cramming last minute.

After I finish with my homework usually it's either 12:30pm or 1pm. I go out to lunch usually at my favorite small little pizzeria called Vecchia Napoli. They make pizza there in the exact style that restaurants in Naples Italy make it. Naples is literally known for having some of the best pizza in all of Italy! Once I'm finished with lunch I check in with my Italian language partners to plan out the weekly meeting time. I meet with them 1 time a week usually for 2-2.5 hours.

Once I have that squared away I try to go for an exercise walk usually at least 2-5 miles. I also like to stop and get pictures of cool places in Viterbo. I have classes 3 days a week Tuesday: 1-3:30pm, Wednesday 1-4pm and Thursdays 4-6:30pm. After classes I will usually come back to the host family apartment and I will take a short nap. I then get up and I try to make myself a healthy after school snack. Usually at night I will eat with my host family Sunday-Thursday. On Fridays and Saturdays it's up to me to get my own supper. Italian dinner is usually cooked and held around 8 or 9pm, which is a bit different compared to dinner times in the U.S.A. Once dinner is over I help clean the kitchen and then I wind down by reading, or watching a movie of my choosing. Then it's off to dreamland until the next day.
